Warsaw Parks and Recreation offers a wide variety of youth sports. Please see a full selection below and fill out the appropriate form if your child is interested in participating.

Cheerleading

Become a cheerleader and learn how to perform basic moves and techniques. Sing and dance to cheer the team on and to get a crowd motivated. Cheerleaders have the ability to be creative and most of all, cheerleading is about having fun!! Come on out and be a Cheerleader!! Open to 1st-6th Grades.

Games will vary from destination to destination. Participants will cheer for football, starting Sept. 8th. Football games will be held in different locations and participants will travel as well. League fee includes a shirt, shorts, bow, poms, socks, and participation award. Players are responsible for providing any other items needed & appropriate tennis shoes. Practices will be determined by coaches. Rosters will be completed after the final registration and coaches will schedule practices at that time. Participants will work with high school cheer squad for a day. Participants will cheer for football, one high school football game, one high school basketball game, & the parade. High school & basketball games are TBA. Teams will be formed based on registration numbers. They will practice and cheer in a friendly learning environment where they can continue to improve, develop, and build confidence.

**Warsaw Parks & Rec provides the following: Shirt, Shorts, Bow, Pom & Socks. Parents are responsible for providing any other items needed including appropriate tennis shoes.

Youth Soccer

The City of Warsaw parks and recreation offers summer soccer. Programs are offered to kids pre-kindergarten through the 12th grade and the Little Kickers program.

The emphasis of these programs will be on developing skills (for all levels) in a safe and fun environment! We are not a competitive league, but we encourage all children to do their best, follow the rules and enjoy playing the game! We also encourage parents to participate in the learning process in a positive manner and remember. It’s all about the kids!

The soccer fields consist of 4 fields for all age groups and skill levels.
Currently, the fields are 1 large, 1 medium and 2- small fields for the younger kids.
The 1-small field is currently closed as of 1/3/18.

Buddy Soccer: (3 yrs- Kindergarten)
Instructional only and is intended to introduce children to working as a team and very basic Soccer. They do not play games. Sessions are held on Tuesdays at 6 PM.

Pee Wee: (4 & 5 years – Pre-school)
An introduction to the game of soccer. Players continue to learn the ideas of the game and develop socialization and team skills. There are no referees.

Minors Division I: (K-2nd) Minors Division II: (3rd-5th)
Majors Division I: (6th-8th) Majors Division II: (9th-12th)

Minors and Majors continue to more advanced skill development. These games are officiated. Teams will be formed based on age and registration numbers. They will practice and play games in a friendly learning environment where they can improve, develop, and build confidence.

SUMMER SOCCER 2019

Season Starts: July 1st

  • Games will be played July 1st – August 9th.
  • Games will be on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Thursdays.
  • Makeup games will be scheduled on any available weekday Monday – Friday. The season may be extended to accommodate makeup dates.
  • League fees include a shirt and participation award.
  • Players are responsible for providing shin guards and appropriate shorts, shoes and or cleats.
  • Minor and Majors will need soccer cleats.
  • Tennis shoes or cleats are appropriate for all other age groups.

PRACTICES:
Practices will be determined by the coaches. Rosters will be completed after the final registration and coaches will schedule practices at that time. Coaches are to notify players of practices and game schedules.

SOCCER FEES:
Buddy Soccer: (3 yrs- Kindergarten) $15.00
Sessions are held on Monday’s at 6 PM.

Pee Wee: (4 & 5 years) $15.00
Games are played on Tuesday’s at 6 PM and 7 PM.

Minors Division 1: (k-2nd yrs) $20.00
Minors Division 2: (3rd-5th) $20.00
Games are played on Tuesdays or Thursdays at 6 PM and 7 PM.

Youth Softball & baseball

The City of Warsaw Parks and Recreation offers a variety of Summer Ball programs.

The emphasis of these programs will be on developing skills (for all levels) in a safe and fun environment! We are a recreational league. Baseball and softball games will be played at participating towns.

We encourage all children to do their best, follow the rules, and enjoy playing the game! We also encourage parents to participate in the learning process in a positive manner and remember, it’s all about the kids!

T-Ball

4-5 years of age.
These players begin using regulation bats, balls, and gloves, but are still hitting the ball off of a tee. They will be playing games against other teams so that they learn the value of good sportsmanship.

Coach Pitch

6-7 years of age.
We offer coach pitch for boys and girls to build confidence while hitting controlled pitches from coaches/machine.

Baseball & Softball

Minors: 8, 9, & 10 years-8th grade/13 years of age.
Majors: 11, 12 & 13 years
Baseball and softball are offered for those with more skills and those who wish to enhance their offense/defensive development.

2019 Ball Fees

T-Ball: Ages 4-5 years, $20.00

Coach Pitch: Ages 6 & 7’s, $20.00

Minors Baseball: Ages 8 -10’s years, $25.00

Majors Baseball: Ages 11,12,13 years – 8th. grade, $25.00

Minors Softball: Ages 8-10 yrs, $25.00

Majors Softball: Ages 11-13 yrs., $25.00

  • Games will be played April 29th – June 7th.

  • Hats are provided for minor and major baseball only. Players are responsible for providing baseball pants or appropriate shorts, shoes or cleats.
  • Minor and Majors will need cleats. Tennis shoes or cleats are appropriate for all other age groups.
  • Coaches will have a bag of supplies including catchers gear, helmets, bats and balls, however, it is highly recommended for kids to have their own helmet.

PRACTICES

Practices will be determined by the coaches. Rosters will be completed after the final registration and coaches will schedule practices at that time. Coaches will contact players with practices and game schedules.

GAMES: Subject to change

  • T-Ball: Held on Mondays at 6 PM and 7 PM. No umpires are provided for this league.
  • Coach Pitch: Held on Tuesdays at 6 PM and 7 PM
  • Minors & Majors Baseball: Held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 PM & 7 PM
  • Minors & Majors Softball: Held on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6 PM & 7 PM
  • Teams will be formed based on age and registration numbers. They will practice and play games in a friendly learning environment where they continue to improve, develop, and build confidence.

Youth Basketball

Basketball offers kids a way to interact and play together as a team. Emphasis on ball handling as well as techniques to improve shooting, passing, dribbling and rebounding. Learn game plans and structures for defense and offense.
If you enjoy playing and would like to learn new techniques and improve on skills. Come join the fun. Great way to make new friends all in a safe and fun environment.
Boot Camp offers the little ones all about the basics of basketball all in a fun environment. Parks & Recreation works in partnership with the WHS Basketball to assist with Boot Camp making it fun for all.

Register by Nov. 30th for the following:

3rd & 4th: $25.00
5th & 6th: $25.00
Additional Information:
*Games will be played on Tuesdays and Thursdays, starting Jan. 15th. All overflow or rescheduled games will be played on Mondays as needed. If there are weather dates the season may be extended as needed.
*League fee includes A shirt and participation award. Players are responsible for providing appropriate shorts and tennis shoes.

3rd, 4th, 5th, 6th teams will be formed on grade and registration numbers. They will practice and play games in a friendly learning environment where they can continue to improve, develop and build confidence. Players will have the opportunity to work with high school coaches and players during select practices.
*Skills Bootcamp is instructional only. Players work with High school players & additional coaches as needed on drills and Skills Bootcamp will be played on Thursday evenings & one Saturday in March.

Youth Volleyball

Bump, Set, Spike… Learn skills and techniques of Volleyball. Emphasis on player development through exercises and drills to simulate real game situations thereby encouraging speed of movement, anticipation, and timing. Learn communication and teamwork skills that are vital to this fast-paced, high-energy game. Learn the specialized player positions for offense and defense, as well as formulations to set the pace. Basic drills and exercises include passing, setting, spiking and blocking. Learn to dig and most of all, learn to have fun while playing Volleyball.
